Sister Ray - Singles & Live tape + Random Violence LP !

Ok ... so there was a request for this band over at Twighlight Zone and since I have so much of their material---including some demo tapes....here's a collection of all their singles. I was from the same hometown as these guys & knew Sam through a friend...Sam if you see this...you gave me "Yellow With Black Lace" marked #2 out of 200...because I got Lou Reed tickets & drove to the show!

Anyway & oddly enough...this week prior to this request, I have made arrangements to send a live VCR tape out to get digitized. It was from 1987...I can't remember how good it was, so it's a crap shoot!

Someday..I will go through the cassette demos Sam used to hand out...mine may be 2nd generation but cool anyway. I also have the band live on AM RADIO...WRRO. All future work depends on the interest....

Per request...here's the band's 1987 LP. Thanks to the original uploader (Toasted Plaid) over at Y-tube.

This saved me a lot of time transferring my vinyl to my computer---labeling tracks...etc.

Man, I'm interested. I loved this band! But I can't even download today's offering because the download site won't let me use it without watching an ad. I don't do ads. I guess I'll check later to see if you always use ImageNetz, as I know some blogs use different download sites.
No worries if you keep using ImageNetz, I understand it's not about my anti-ad fervor. Great blog, by the way!

Yeah...ads are a bummer but I guess that's what makes these hosting sites FREE! Usually if I click an ad...it lets you close it in ~ 4secs.

I check later today for another site to upload to.

Hey, I just kept refreshing it, and eventually it gave up, so I was able to download!
I understand about them using ads to stay viable, and I respect that, but I just can't stand ads, so it's a personal choice. Thanks for the download, I'm looking forward to hearing it. I loved the raw grittiness of Sister Ray back in the day, and couldn't believe it when I saw their name in the sidebar while I was at another music blog. I've bookmarked your blog!

Man, I've been looking for these singles . . . forever. Since the eighties, in fact, when I owned Random Violence but could never find anything else! Thank you for posting! (And if you happen to have a rip of that album, and would post it sometime, I'd be equally in your debt. But thank you for posting these!!!)

Glad it worked out!

Thanks for checking in...

Of course I have the LP...but haven'y ripped it yet. Maybe in the future.....

Hmmm.. I thought I & and few of my friends (back in the '80's) were the only Sister Ray fans!

Glad to see others are as well.

You're def not alone out there. I have Random Violence on LP, and CDs of No Way To Express, To Spite My Face, and Too Mean To Live Too Young To Kill, the latter of which I had to buy as an import (So many of my fave US bands were more loved overseas...).

Ah, thank you so much! (I believe I first read about Sister Ray in Forced Exposure, sometime in the mid-80s. They reviewed the live cassette--which I didn't think I was ever going to hear--and some of the 45s, but all I could ever locate was the LP. I was probably paying slightly more attention to Ohio bands than most--my girlfriend was from Columbus--but they had some nice underground press at the time.)

Oh yes... I forgot about Forced Exposure & that they were reviewed by the mag. Columbus had a few good bands as well around the same time... my favs include -> Gibson Bros. and Ricky Barnes & the Hoot-Owls.

The Gibson Brothers were great, Great Plains were cool. I was partial to Boys from Nowhere, who may have played with SR on a few occasions (not sure about this. But could have).

I think you're right about The Boys from Nowhere playing with Sister Ray. I have their LP on SKYCLAD...so I probably was exposed to them at a show.

Hadn't heard of Great Plains ...will check out.
