Back at it again with another full classic LP share.Taken direct from original pressing vinyl. I’ve been acquiring these from a collector who bought them back in day and stored them unplayed (or lightly played) for over 50 years. They have recently been digitized to mp4 files (sorry no FLAC) for listening. Each file is the entire side of the LP, just as if you put the record on the turntable. No individual tracks, no tagging of each track & no album art displayed when playing. So be aware of this.
For me…I’m grabbing these to give a listen to stuff I never owned or back in the day I had different musical tastes. There are a few that once made it to my turntable but have now been sold.
It seems lately...I stumble across news a while after it has happened. Recently was the passing of Jesse Hector (earlier post here). For this post, I was going through a box of 45s from the '80s and digitizing some. I decided to do a web search on Mark Hanley who I knew of through the band Sister Ray and his off-shoot projects. Although I didn't know Mark personally, I would buy his records/tape. Seen him perform many times...always a good show. So when I learned he passed away last year, I put this little tribute together. As you can see in his obituary he was a very busy person. Most tunes here are from my collection. A few found on the internet.

A passionate and devoted musician and artist, Mark's creative life was expansive and deeply influential. He performed with many well-known regional bands over the decades, including Edge City, Sister Ray, November Loop, Geo C and The Storm, The Bliss Machine, Non-Stop Now, Room 101, The Butchers, Spoonbender, and Moon Station Burning. He also performed on Landon Finnerty's album "Kissing in Public." His work with Sister Ray, who released several singles and four albums that received favorable reviews in Rolling Stone, Spin, and Forced Exposure, took him on an international tour in 1989, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The band performed throughout Germany, Switzerland, Spain, the Basque region, France, Belgium, and Holland, later returning to tour in the United States.
Mark also composed and performed music with Dr. Lars Brondum for nearly forty years, both in Youngstown and in Stockholm, Sweden. His musical journey took him to Tunisia on several occasions, where he worked and composed with Sonia Nouioui. At the time of his passing Mark was working on composing the soundtrack for a film titled "Aconitum." Mark's guitar of choice was always his cherished Gibson Les Paul, an instrument that became an extension of his voice and spirit.
