Chasing Martians.....R.I.P. ~Dex~
Sad news.... I've been a fan since seeing the Flat Duo Jets open for the Cramps in Detroit---circa 1990.
Much younger then....

Dex lived in my neighborhood and I recently saw him at a local show commemorating the Nuggets compilation fronted by Lenny Kaye. In a crowded small venue, he was sitting against the wall near me and so completely inside the music in that moment that I didn't even approach him to say hi. Our loss. RIP Dex.
Thanks for this feature. I remember that the first time I ever heard of the Flat Duo Jets was when I saw them someplace in the Los Angeles area (maybe at the Palomino) very early in their career -- like, in the 1980s, even before their first album had come out. Now I'm really saddened to learn of Dex's passing, and at such a relatively young age.
