Let's face it...the content on this site comes from either gracious ebay sellers (gave me the idea to start this thing in the first place!) or my vast personal collection. As I hunt the 'bay for the gems to include here, I find many that I haven't heard before & meet my criteria to keep/share.
When I'm not collecting music for this site and doing things around the house...I usually am listening to one of several radio stations via the internet. Every once in a while a song will come on that will have me stop what I'm doing & go search out info on the artist. Here's a review of who perked my ears up throughout the year & got multiple plays by me via Ytube.... Hopefully, one might do the same for you.
I hope 2022 is a great year for all of us.
Billy Strings: A friend at work…fellow guitar enthusiast told me about Billy a while back but it took me a while to check out some of his work. THEN I WAS BLOWN AWAY!! An amazing picker for sure. This video from 2012 shows him before he got famous playing his first hit. The soul coming from within tells it all as he plays. The green shirt guy (as he has become to be known) laughs as Billy plays. Probably didn’t realize what he was witnessing. There’s plenty of Billy’s work on Y*utube…check him out at Carter’s Vintage Guitars playing some vintage Martins (drool…) I like his earlier stuff. Hurrah For The Riff Raff: The first tune I heard from this band was on internet radio (88.5 out of L.A.) and was Rhododendren which to me had a slight Velvet Underground groove. So I checked them out & found their earlier stuff to be really good albeit different then the current releases. Again from 2012… Colby Helms: Stumbled across Colby on a Y*utube search…another young player/song writer. Hoping for more as time goes on. Another Irish band I dig…. Fontaines D.C.: Another internet radio hook-up. Gotta get some. Wet Leg: Yet another … Public Service Broadcasting: Heard this tune & had to check it out. Haven’t explored much more from them…yet.

Wonderful stuff. These are all new to me. Thanks for sharing. The new year is looking good...
Thanks for these recommendations. I'd never heard of
ANY of the artists before, but each of the selections is
pretty good. As another guitar enthusiast, I'm definitely
impressed by Billy Strings, but I think my favorite of the
lot has to be Wet Leg: I will absolutely buy their album
when it eventually comes out.
Always thrilled to see new artists. Shows how completely out of touch I am though. Ran into Billy Strings on a Marcus King video. Never realized the extent in which he had so much output.
Check out Billy & Marcus at Carter's Vintage Guitars in Nashville...
so good....
