(VBR) as that is how I acquired
them. My philosophy..better to
have lower quality than none at
all!
Here’s an extremely rare unreleased recording of The Gibson Bros. live on WRRO AM radio in Warren Ohio. The Gibson Bros. were from Columbus & were in town to do a show at the famed dive bar The Penquin Pub in Youngstown. I was friends with WRRO’s DJ…Grover who brought the band in for the show & this rare live on-air performance. He luckily captured the night on cassette & supplied me with a copy as I was a fan. I recently found the tape within the vault (!!) and did an edit/digital transfer. I reached out to Gibson Bros. guitarist Jeff Evans to see if he had a copy of this in which he said “No”. So, I gave him a download link & asked if I could share it with others in which he said “Yes” !!
The Gibson Bros. were one of the first bands that I got into that didn’t have that corporate music industry polished sound. They opened the way for me to explore much more in music.
Grover went on to much bigger things (Warner Bros. records + more), The Gibson Bros split several years later & I relocated to the West. I vaguely remember that show with them at The Penquin Pub, but this tape allows us to hear what it likely contained.
