Thanks to Joe...

A while back, a friend of mine sent me a newspaper clipping of a story on Joe Bussard. He probably is one of THE first record collectors...starting in the 1950's and gathering all the primo early records on the 78rpm format. He would go from house to house throughout the south looking for records. His efforts probably saved many a rare sides from going to the dump as the 78rpm format was losing popularity with the introduction of the 45rpm & 33 1/3 LP. As Youtube came around..he can be seen playing some of his gems in the basement of his home. Through him...I have discovered ALOT of early stuff that I never would have. This collection which originally was released in 1952, was the work of Harry Smith. Joe (I believe) has some input as well. I will put the whole 6cd collection up over the next few weeks.

What were THEY Thinking ??

Back in the late '80s  a compilation LP came out titled "Golden Throats" which focused on celebrities trying their best to sing. At that time, a friend of mine & myself were deeply involved in hunting for vinyl. He actually looked for similar material highlighted in the above LP. Together with our "finds" we made this compilation (sans the Fred & Barney record as it was mine as a toddler! ...and the later William Shatner).

So...this is a GREAT bunch of tunes to play when you want the party to end...or you just want to clear any room.

Another pile of "finds" placed into the jukebox! As always...an assortment to please any patron. For those new to the jukebox....the tunes are found on the famous auction site as sellers sell the original records (some for BIG $$) and put sound files up to aid in the sale. As a recovering record collector (!!) I search & find these gems so we can listen for a much lower winning bid (free!). The tunes must pass my approval so sometimes only one side is captured. Bit rates will vary...but this is a jukebox!

Vol. 35 gives play time to many of the music styles heard here. Hal Page, Red Sovine, The Losers and The Dontels....are getting much play on my side!!

The Sounds of the '60s Vol. 2

 Another collection of 60s era sides. For Velvet Underground fans...check out the early Lou Reed 45rpm with The Primitives. ZZ Top fans may like the Moving Sidewalks' sides...early Billy Gibbons. All tracks harvested at ebay...as sellers hyped their goods!! Thank you sellers!!!!!!
